Australian Suspension

The Australian Cruiser features a complete Australian suspension system...no not just another spring in the leaf hanger. The entire suspension is removed in our facility and replaced with a complete new package. This suspension is far more rugged than the US Systems being designed uniquely for Australian conditions.

Australian Air

Crossroads have also installed twin Australian 13500 BTU Dometic reverse cycle air conditioners as standard on the CF29CK,CF30SK,CF30QB vans. This system gives generous market leading cooling capacity in your new van. A big factor over here in our hot climate.

Australian Stove

and then there are the other things such as our top of the range Australian "swift" 4 burner gas stove/oven/grill complete with stainless steel splash back protector. Not the cheap US 3 burner option that has no grill facility.

Australian Fridge/Freezer

The fridge is another important factor when considering quality for value in a new van. Our 184 litre fridge freezer is a tropical strength 3 way (gas, 12v and 240v) Aussie unit. Not a lower cooling rated US version which requires a heavy and unreliable inverter to alter the 110volt power to our 240volt system.

Crossroads have also included an Australian Atwood 23 litre Gas hotwater system as standard on all vans.

Australian Legality

Perhaps the most important factor that requires consideration is the van weight and legality issues. The last thing you want is a van that is overweight and cant be insured. A lot of dealers will gloss over this issue because they are not sure of the requirements, dont care or know their product is to heavy and therefore not legal. The Australian Cruiser vans are 100 percent legal on any roads in Australia. The CF29CK weighs 3800kg and the CF25RS weighs 2850kg. The ATM (aggregate trailer mass of all four vans is 4500kg). This means you have the potential payload of up to 1650kg. So tare weight - ATM = payload. Heavy vans with an ATM over 4500kg need to have an approved (and Expensive) airbrake system fitted to the vans. This might make make tha vans OK but thats only half the story What about the towing vehicle? You need to also have an approved (expensive) air brake systen fitted to the vehicle. Because the Cruiser weighs in well under these limits we fitted an electric braking system on the vehiclke that allows you to adjust the brakng bias to suit.

Light weight technology

So how do the Australian Cruisers give you up to 3 Large electric slideouts in a 32ft van and weigh no more than 3950kg? The answer is a superior approach in design technology. Australian Cruiser vans have a 6 sided Alluminium frame construction which sits on a solid steel lippert chassis. There are no heavy old style technology timber floor beams or timber roof trusses on this van (as seen on many imported US vans). The alloy framing also provides superior structural integrity which again is perfect for Australia. This is the only van in Australia to offer a triple slide van at this weight.
